What motivates the leaders of the United Kingdom Independence Party?

Or else!!!

We apologise that recent posts have tended to concentrate on UKIP's General Secretary, but his attempts to secure the right to belong to a particular internet e-mail group have now been taken to such extraordinary lengths, with much of the ire being directed at the editor of this blog, we felt we could not let the closing of this incident pass without mention. Here is the most recent communication from Mr Harvey which resulted in his application being finally rejected:-
Quote
I think I'm a reasonable sort of chap. Is it not reasonable to ask you
to take urgent action to stop your list being used to bring the party
into disrepute?

In fact I'm so reasonable that I will give you a further 24 hours to
confirm that Mr. Cole is no longer a member of your list before I feel
obliged to take the matter further.

I would also appreciate your earliest attention to the other matters I
have raised.

It would seem apt to remind readers of a recent post UKIP's Thug Image of which this kind of threatening talk seems a prime example.

Cannot Mr Harvey begin to see that it is this kind of threatening behaviour that brings the party into disrepute?

The Topsy-Turvy World of Michael Harvey

Ask, "how come?" he launched a postal ballot with my name removed from the Ballot Papers which arrived in the North East on 24th April, while my appeal was lodged within the time limit he and Derek Clark established, namely on 9th May 2003, and he replies with a re-iteration of the reasons for my disqualification which are to say the least coloured and distant from the actual events.

It is clear from his reply. that to his mind he can never be in the wrong, the result of the appeal procedure was a foregone conclusion, and therefore as judge, jury and executioner the matter is now closed!.

Just as with Chairman Lott, there was no problem regarding my first choice application for the South West region Quote It was just "deleted", no record no problem! one presumes by the Returning Officer Mr Michael Harvey, but as clearly demonstrated in this last exchange There is no point asking him" What about the big blob of Tippex that must exist on their copy of my application form (but of course not mine)?"

The truth as to what has been going on in UKIP over the past few months, never mind recent years that are well known and reported by the euro-federalists, will only be discovered and rectified by turfing out those most clearly responsible Knapman, Lott, Harvey and Clark. Holding a deep and rigorous inquiry to determine who else should go, then instituting a campaign to restore credibility and trust, first among the party mebership and after among the public at large.

Why should I care? Because I want Britain out of the non-democratic European Union and UKIP in its present shape is the main hindrance to that being achieved!

Time is getting short!

A Reply from Michael Harvey

The following has been received from Michael Harvey, and as promised we are posting it in its entirety below:-

Quote
Dear Mr Cole

Thank you for affording me the courtesy of copying me in on your posting
to new-ind-uk (something that my other critics have not had the grace to
do) and thank you for offering to copy my reply there. I trust you will
post the whole reply whereas previously when quoting from my e-mails you
have cut them severely (in one case down to one sentence!) to fit your
argument.

What a topsy-turvy world we live in when I have to rely on the goodwill
of a non-UKIP member to post my message to a UKIP members' list!

For the benefit of UKIP members who have so far only heard one side of
events, the circumstances regarding your disqualification from the North
East election can be summarised as follows:

Unlike in most regions, the campaign in the North East was extremely
acrimonious. I attended the second hustings meeting and was dismayed by
the hostile questions from the floor aimed at both yourself and Mr Troy
by your respective supporters.

You received a warning from the Party Chairman, David Lott, not to
attack a fellow candidate (a breach of election rules).

You received a further warning from me on April 3rd in my capacity as
Returning Officer after you circulated e-mails to UKIP members in the NE
and elsewhere attacking Mr Troy and also national Party members.

You subsequently repeated some of these remarks. You were quoted in in
the Northern Echo dated 7th April saying: "I will be unwilling to
continue my UKIP candidacy without a complete change of the leadership
of the party".

Consequently you left me with no alternative but to disqualify you from
the postal ballot for selection of candidates for the North East list of
prospective UKIP Euro-election candidates. It is not acceptable for a
potential candidate to make unwarranted allegations against senior Party
Officers.

You appealed against this decision to the independent Discipline Panel.
Your appeal was rejected.

You were due to appear before a disciplinary hearing on June 11th but
you resigned your membership of the Party on June 10th.

As far as the Party is concerned, the matter is now closed.

Regards,
Michael Harvey

Britain in Europe

Mr Harvey has attacked this blog as it chooses to carry a link to the Britain in Europe web-site page covering UKIP.

This Blog was started when it seemed to its founders that UKIP urgently needed reform. The best way to counter criticism is to establish whether such criticism is justified and then rooting it out. Many of the matters highlighted on the Britain in Europe page continue to be problematical precisely because UKIP has taken no steps to put its own house in order. By ignoring past "colourful" matters and therefore letting them pass uncorrected, UKIP has allowed more of the same to occur.

Does Mr Harvey really believe he can keep the lid on the Peter Troy membership list padding matter throughout the upcoming euro election campaign by sounding off about "walls having ears" and "careless talk" costing votes. UKIP will deservedly attract criticism in that campaign because the party leadership was apparently aware, if not involved in the matter and consequently STILL refuse to properly investigate the facts.
What other conclusion will outsiders draw?

Harvey harangues; but answer came there none

In another fora Michael Harvey has chosen to repeat his earlier allegations against Martin Cole.

Answering the extraordinarily simple question regarding his running the MEP candidate ballot in spite of Cole's pending appeal, of course, continues to be ignored. Our position on the disciplinary matter was covered at length on 17th June and can be re-visited by that link.

Here is a direct quote from an e-maiI put out by Mr Harvey this morning highlighting his present siege mentality and desperate resort to totally inappropriate WWII anti-espionage slogans.:-

I trust you will let list members know that "walls have ears" and "careless talk costs votes". The last thing we need is to give the anti-UKIP brigade ammunition with which to attack us in the run-up to the euro elections

Mr Harvey is confusing cause and effect. The party of which he is General Secretary is falling into disrepute as a result of his actions. He and others in Leadership positions have been so frequently incompetent and underhand, that the victims of their machinations and personal attacks are now so numerous, that the facts can no longer be hidden.

Thus it is all coming out into the open, which Messrs.Harvey and co are powerless to prevent. As stated previously for a start to be made on salvaging the party urgent change is needed at the top. An essential start is the removal of Knapman, Lott, Harvey and Clark from their present positions. Peter Troy, of course, must also leave in spite of his bungled election rigging having paved the way for the exposure of his party seniors.

No Reply Received from Michael Harvey

Maybe he no longer visits this invaluable site for UKIP members dedicated to openness, democracy and debate within the party and of course Britain's withdrawal from the EU or even perhaps the restoration of sovereignty to Westminster.

No matter I have now repeated the question placed here last night, by e-mail direct to his office. I promised to post his reply on these pages as soon as it is received. Watch this Blog.

While waiting try a look at the Washington Times which carried an item on EU censorship yesterday and has now been added to our permanent links EU Internet Censors

Michael Harvey

Debate has apparently been raging, within a UKIP discussion group, as to whether or not UKIP General Secretary Michael Harvey should be granted access to that forum, which was set up for party volunteer, ie unpaid members only. Great store has been set by some as to whether or not it would be democratic to exclude him.

UKIP Uncovered believes that the essence of democracy is a willingness to openly discuss conflicting views and explain the reasons for forming a particular opinion on any one subject. The ability to demonstrate a willingness to explain past actions is also an essential part of this process. Martin Cole has many questions that he has put to Michael Harvey over the past few months, many of which can be found on these pages and all of which remain unanswered.

I invite MIchael Harvey to e-mail this blog with some of the answers to all the many queries raised....here is a simple one to start:-

Why, as Returning Officer in the recent European Parliamentary Candidate elections, did he proceed with the MEP postal ballot, when he knew Cole's appeal was being prepared and the deadline for submission had considerable time to run?

There are of course many such other questions that this individual could never honestly answer without revealing himself as the antithesis of everything most of us mean by the word democrat

Political Party Financing Problems for UKIP

Our sister blogspot Ironies has just posted a long analysis of the Regulation on Political Party Financing that was passed in the European Parliement on 19th June, 2003. UKIP's MEPs made the following statement on this matter as reported in EurActiv Quote:-

In a joint statement, MEPs Jens-Peter Bonde (Denmark), Graham Booth (UK), Nigel Farage (UK) and Jeffrey Titford (UK) dismissed the Council's proposal as "illegal and certainly immoral". Some MEPs have declared their intention to take the case to the European Court of Justice, as they consider the new regulation discriminatory against the smaller political groups.

Very well said indeed. I have seen no other reaction from the party, but this clearly is a threat to a major source of the party's present income. There are worrying signs that the reaction among UKIP's less than united or thoughtful leadership, might be to imitate the Conservatives and say one thing while doing another in order to continue to receive the Danegeld.

This would be disastrous, the only way forward seems to us to maintain our policies for withdrawal from the EU, and if we have to kiss seats in the European Parliament and the money they bring Goodbye then so be it. After all anybody in UKIP who is seriously committed to the party has to believe that at some point British MEPs will not survive. The odds are stacked against all Eurorealists but we cannot beat the EU by joining it.

UKIP's obsession with MEPs has distracted it for too long; this new regulation entering into effect at the beginning of the next European Parliament shows how futile that distraction has been.

The moment of Decision has come and deferring it in anticipation of a legal ruling against the rule just made jointly by the Commission and Parliament in accordance with the provisions of the Nice Treaty is, I am afraid, a pipe dream.

Whereto UKIP

I have searched the national press in vain for an official UKIP response to Giscard's Constitution and found nothing. For a party that describes itself as the country's fourth largest and the major anti-EU movement this is an absolute farce. All knew, for many months, that the constitution would be considered by the EU's Leaders at Thessaloniki and a massive press blitzkrieg should have been prepared. On 12th May 2003 we pointed out what needed to be done and the obstacles that stood in the way.

Those obstacles remain and they are at the top of what is now your not our party. They are principally Roger Knapman, David Lott, Michael Harvey and Derek Clark....unless these proven incompetents are removed, the anti-EU forces within the UK will continue to be rendered both powerless and futile with whatever amount of effort and hours your volunteers donate, losing its impact in the turmoil of their eventual and inevitable exposure.

"Dissolved, Disciplined and Defiant"

Bravo to the UKIP members in the North East. In an opinion poll being run by Northumberland Today on who wants a Regional Assembly the "NO" vote is running at an incredible 100 per cent. No thanks to the party however.

Here are the thoughts of the dissolved and disciplined Regional Committee members put out last evening.

UKIP TODAY

Let us summarise the current situation in UKIP:-

1. The Officers of the NE Regional Committee alert Head Office to serious membership irregularities in the run up to the postal ballot to select ccandidates for the Euro Elections. Peter Troy is implicated in these irregularities; he is himself a prospective candidate for the Elections
2. The Regional Committee is disbanded by the NEC because the majority refused to sign a declaration supporting Peter Troy as a candidate.
3. The Party Treasurer, John de Roeck, investigates the membership irregularities; one relates to Mr Agnew, a well known local BNP activist, whose membership of UKIP has attracted much media attention. Mr Troy tells Mr de Roeck "there were no problems with membership and that he [Mr Agnew] and other members had paid in full 'in the normal manner". Mr de Roeck investigates and reports to the NEC that Mr Agnew "did not know he was to be made a member. The office cash book indicates membership was paid by Mr Troy". The investigation finds several others signed up by Mr Troy who did not know they were to be made members and who did not pay: "some were paid for by Mr Troy directly whilst others have not paid at all". The report concludes "as a result of this investigation Mr Troy has resigned as a candidate .. at the time the results were declared".
4. Result - The Officers of the NE Regional Committee are barred from holding any office for 18 months. Peter Troy gets a 'warning' , but remains 'an active member (Chairman Lott's words) and is now allowed to go forward as a candidate in Scotland, potentially representing UKIP as an MEP. This reads like an extract from the Tony Martin Justice Manual.

Chairman Lott was very keen to write to all constituency associations, Branch and regional chairmen about "disgraceful vilification of certain candidates by some regional committee members", but he has not troubled to write to tell them the results of the Investigation, namely that our opinion was justified and our actions vindicated.

It is curious indeed that, as a result of Head Office, the three regions where UKIP is now in utter disarray are the very same three regions where Prescott has just announced that there will be referenda for regional assemblies. Is it a coincidence? Is it simply sheer stupidity at Head Office or is there something more sinister? Has the Party been infiltrated at the top? Put the events above alongside the Party's dire financial state (huge overspend by some officers on the Welsh campaign, more than double the authorised amount; massive legal costs in the dispute with Nikki Sinclair, set to rise even higher now the Party has refused mediation and a court hearing looms) and one must ask what is happening. What's the true reason for the decisions at Head Office? There has already been one enquiry some 2 or 3 years ago, commissioned by Jeffrey Titford, then Party Leader, and conducted by Mr Webster-Gardner, which found for the Regional Committees in the north and against Mr Troy, but the farce goes on.

We, the majority on the now disbanded Regional Committee, remain committed to the fight against the EU, but, in its current state, UKIP is a hindrance to that fight, and an embarrassment. The recent events outlined above (and we have not touched on the most unsatisfactory situation regarding the funding of the Hartlepool office) have necessarily diverted us somewhat from our true purpose, to free Britain from the EU. We continue to battle against regionalisation and are pressing ahead with our work here, with renewed efforts. There are still good people in UKIP (regrettably, few at the top) but too many have been sickened and driven out, excellent people such as Graham Wood of SANITY, who resigned in disgust at the support given to Mr Troy. A superb election candidate, Martin Cole, who alerted Head Office to the BNP/UKIP membership of Trevor Agnew, was then disqualified for his honesty. Another first-rate candidate, Bill Chrystal, resigned .The Party is in dire straits. We will not , however, allow ourselves to be distracted from the real work of saving our country's democracy. We have been heartened by the support of many anti-EU activists, in the north and elsewhere.

W Chrystal's Resignation letter from the MEP Candidate List for the NE and from UKIP

In view of the outrageous decision at yesterday's kangaroo disciplinary hearing when three stalwarts of the NE Regional Committee (dissolved) were banned from holding office in the party (see post just below) for the next eighteen months, ( and in view of continuing difficulties with our archive files) we have decided to re-post the above letter dated 25th April 2003 which first appeared on these pages five days later:-
Quote
To Roger Knapman UKIP Party Leader

Sir,
I have been in many organisations through my life and been in many peculiar situations, but none as I now find myself.
The infighting in the party has really got out of hand; to such an extent that it would seem that the party chiefs do not have the backbone to sort this.
It would appear that certain members of the party in the north East are hell bent on being the candidate for Europe, and after the farce that was supposed to be the inaugural meeting of the Durham branch, I can see why. I will not beat about the bush for it is not in my nature and I believe that you should be aware of the facts from someone who is neutral in the conflict.
The trouble seems to be centred around Peter Troy and his cohorts. I have already written about this, and indeed for some reason have only had one official reply which did not even answer my questions, and one phone call from one supposed senior official asking me to pour oil on troubled waters. Mr. Troy has and is repeatedly using the members of the F.S.B. for his own ends i.e. the Hartlepool office for which you pay was an accountants office, A Member of the FSB. The man that owns it is still there! There are many such annonomilys, which it would seem, require investigation, It would seem to me that for some reason your party leaders are afraid of him, and we that were the NE are not worthy of your attention except when it suits, but as usual in your organisation as in others you don’t have the bottle to sort it, but alter your rules to suit yourselves
It really is a shame that the N.E. region and the party workers here will no longer be a part of what would and should have been the best thing to happen to politics in the NE in a hundred years because the people in high places don’t listen to the workers! (G. Orwell Animal Farm)
I have resigned from the F.S.B because of Troy’s workings, and have therefore decided that I cannot have my name associated with people of this ilk.
For the above reasons I tender my resignation from party.
Unquote

The bold print was not in the original but added by us today, because of their particular pertinence to yesterday's totally disgusting travesty of justice These were the accusations made to UKIP's Leader some two months ago, and as stated not for the first time. They were, to repeat

1) The trouble seems to be centred around Peter Troy and his cohorts.

2) Mr. Troy has and is repeatedly using the members of the F.S.B. for his own ends i.e. the Hartlepool office for which you pay was an accountants office, A Member of the FSB. The man that owns it is still there! .

3) It would seem to me that for some reason your party leaders are afraid of him.

AND OF COURSE, THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN REFUTED BECAUSE THEY CAN'T BE.

I believe, but stand to be corrected on this point and will apologise if told I am wrong, that the person concerned in item number 2) above was Paul Nugent who also joined Troy and Williamson in making the complaint heard yesterday.

Those innocent party members who have become victims of Troy's manipulations in the North of England have known what has been going on for years. It is time the vast majority of UKIP members who are to be found further South were informed of the facts behind what their party has been allowed to become!

UKIP's Desperate Leadership continue Vendetta against Decency

The Kangaroo Court mentioned yesterday has further dirtied the party's reputation!

The suspended Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary of the North East Regional Committee have been banned from holding party office for a period of eighteen months.

This was conveyed to me in the following message from one of the three:-

Quote
We have been barred from holding any party office for 18 months - Troy and co's complaints were upheld. In other words, a committee disbanded for refusing to support a candidate (who has lied to the Party Treasurer and falsely signed up people as members in the run up to a ballot in which he is a candidate) is penalised for the honesty of their actions, while said candidate continues as "an active member" Quelle surprise!

NE Committee Disciplinary Hearing

We have been receiving conflicting reports as to the status of the kangaroo court that was supposed to be convened today to hear disciplinary charges against the suspended volunteer members of the NE Regional Committee brought by Peter Troy, Christine Williamson and their co-conspirators.

Hard facts are yet to hand, but we are able to post a letter written by the defendents yesterday to Party Secretary Clark, making a strong case for this affront to justice to be brought to an immediate end.

The Leadership Cabal continue to ignore all sense and blindly drive the party towards oblivion. Here is the letter:-

Quote
Dear Mr Clark,

Disciplinary Complaints (Names Removed)

Thank you for your email of last night.

As you are well aware, this matter goes far beyond simply sending a letter to members. There are various issues involved, (including the false membership lists in the run-up to the postal ballot for European Election candidates and the funding of the Hartlepool office), and Mr Troy’s conduct is integral to them all.

The question of Mr Troy’s conduct was the subject of an Enquiry commissioned by former Party Leader Mr Titford some two or three years ago. It was carried out by Mr Webster-Gardiner and found in favour of the Regional Committees of the North West, Yorkshire/Humberside and the North East, and against Mr Troy.

Only last month, a thorough Investigation conducted by the Party Treasurer Mr de Roeck found against Mr Troy with regard to false entries on membership lists in the North East.

It is completely inappropriate to attempt to deal with the situation piecemeal: tomorrow’s hearing should be cancelled. The only way to resolve the matter is for there to be a full Investigation by an independent agreed panel. Since those involved and witnesses all live in the North, it should be held there.

It is worth noting that much anti-EU activity in the North East in the name of UKIP has now ceased, following the suspension/disbandment of the Regional Committee, at a crucial time in British politics. As you know, just yesterday Mr Prescott announced referenda for regional assemblies in the North West, Yorkshire and the North East, the very areas where UKIP is in disarray.

In the prominent coverage given to regionalisation on both BBC and ITV national and local news, UKIP did not get a mention; the case against an Assembly was eloquently put by Neil Herron.

Yours sincerely,
cc. Mr R. Knapman, NEC members, Regional Chairmen
(the letter is signed by 3 suspended NE Committee elected members, names removed in accordance with this blogs new editorial policy of protecting individuals, as far as possible when dealing with the present UKIP Leadership, from obscene and unwarranted attacks).

Peter Troy's Resignation

On 5th June a UKIP e-mail discussion group received a protest from Peter Troy about too much gossip being exchanged by the participants. We copied that protest and mentioned that we would shortly publish the facts about recent events in the North East. A detailed account of the worrying situation was placed on that particular e-mail forum during the weekend of 7/8th June, entirely free from gossip, and signed by the six suspended members of the North East Regional Committee. The Chairman and Secretary of that committee had however been notified of a disciplinary complaint against them that was scheduled to be heard today 18th June, we thus held off placing a copy of their reply to this blog.

We now feel able to republish that e-mail for the benefit of our readers:-

Quote

Mr Peter Troy's "explanation" of why he resigned from the candidate list is disingenuous, to put it mildly. It is not "that simple".

Conspicuously, he has omitted to mention that serious membership irregularities, in which he is implicated, in the North East have come to light in the course of the candidate election campaign.

Incontrovertible evidence exists that Mr Troy signs up innocents, without their consent or knowledge, to membership of UKIP in his capacity as a recruiter for the Federation of Small Businesses. One Mr Walker, who granted us permission to use his letter confirming the situation, had his Membership Fee paid for him by Mr Troy without his knowledge. When he was called by the North East Region Party Secretary to welcome him as a new Member, Mr Walker stated "I have never heard of the UK Independence Party". He knew nothing of being made a member.

For those taking more than a passing interest in the "funny goings on up North", you will also be aware that a false application form was sent in by Mr Troy and the subscription paid by Mr Troy for Mr Trevor Agnew, a BNP Member (and a well known one at that). He was asked to leave the Party in the year 2000 by one of the current now "disbanded" NE Regional Officers because of his BNP Membership; this demonstrates how closely Mr Troy follows the affairs in the North East,he must be too busy fraternising elsewhere getting brownie points from his lords and
masters.. Mr Agnew stated that he got his membership card "out of the blue".

Our best prospective Candidate , Mr Martin Cole, who queried this situation of having a BNP Member recruited to the Party, to this day has not had a response other than that from Mr Michael Harvey claiming the matter has been "dealt with".Our questions too were ignored. Mr Cole 's Candidature was withdrawn because he criticised the Leadership for not taking any action; Mr Troy, the perpetrator of this unwholesome incident, remains. The situation regarding Mr Agnew has already attracted the attention of the Press - hardly good for UKIP.

Mr David Lott ,supported by some other Members of the NEC, seems to see more virtue in dismissing a whole Regional Committee who, because of ill-conceived Rules, were helpless to remove Mr Troy from their Candidate list where he was placed on the basis of a brief interview in London .The bulk of the Committee felt unable to support Mr Troy's Candidature: how could they ask the electorate to vote for him when
they were unwilling to vote for him themselves? It is the ridiculous. Rules dreamt up by the EEC which left some Committees in this impossible
situation, where they could not object to a Candidate but the Candidate could object to them.

All Mr Troy has received, despite his indefensible actions, is a"warning" not to be a naughty boy. An arrangement was then cobbled together where he would claim to "resign" his candidacy for the sake of "Party Unity". This, is if you will excuse the expression, is bullshit.

Whilst he gets a "warning", we, who have discovered the irregularities, get Solicitors' letters sent on the instructions of Mr Farage.

Written evidence also exists indicating that he does not enjoy too comfortable relationship with his current employers, who are naturally concerned at the membership situation. Again, this does not reflect well on UKIP.

Astonishingly,Mr Troy is still perceived by some as an asset to the Party, despite the withdrawal of one Candidate and the resignation in the course of the campaign of Mr Bill Chrystal, another potentially excellent candidate, who holds a similar view of Mr Troy to ours and who was unwilling to be associated with him . Incidentally a number of letters from concerned members have been sent to the Party Leader, if
you can remember who he is, about the disbandment of the Regional Committee, only to see him duck the issue. Has anyone had a proper reply?

Two or three years ago Mr Troy was dismissed as Regional Organiser after a report was commissioned by the then Leader Jeffrey Titford, when Mr Troy's £24000 per year job plus a couple of thousand expenses wasn't bearing much fruit. This report was conducted by George Webster-Gardiner; although its conclusions are known , it has not been allowed to see the light of day. It obviously came down on the side of the 3
Northern Regional Committees (North East, North West and Yorkshire) who all in turn (and totally independently) banned Mr Troy from their areas.

But has Mr Troy gone away? No. Why ?Because he is given oxygen by a weak Leadership.

If anyone thinks that a potential European Candidate should still be in the Party at all after "rigging" Memberships, just prior to the Postal
Ballot, will they please stand up and be counted. We know the Party Chairman does; his letter to our North East members attempts to pass off
the situation as simply "a campaign fraught with difficulty" stating that "despite coming first in the poll Peter Troy has decided, in the interests of Party unity, to withdraw . Peter will remain an active member". No mention from him of the serious irregularities (and there are others) about which we complained and to which we alerted Head Office officially. Apparently this character has his backing, whereas the Regional Committee's actions ,which have been completely and utterly vindicated, have not. Mr Lott has been prepared to circulate, "in the intersts of balance" as he put it, an email seeking our expulsion , but seems unwilling to publicise the current situation about irregularities.

Is it a case of Mr Lott not being able to see the wood for the Troys?

A formal complaint by us against Mr Troy is under preparation. The matters may yet also be referred to the Crown Prosecution Service.

We need hardly add that the complaints made against us are not accepted and will be stoutly defended.

Regrettably many good people have resigned the Party in the past because of the behaviour of a few at the centre. It is in danger of loosing
credibility as a Party because of the actions of those few. Their grip on power is only maintained by new Party Members who are not aware of the Party history of in-fighting, or by good people deciding to leave rather than be associated with unscrupulous behaviour.

Over 8000 Members have left the Party; this is not far behind its current Membership. Nearly a million anti-EU votes were cast at the time of Sir
James Goldsmith, who could get 10,000 people to a political rally. It is of great regret to many that he died. UKIP needs the inspirational Leadership that he was able to offer, and less of Committees for this and that, disciplinary hearings etc. Has the Party forgotten we are volunteers and work for the cause and not ourselves? The treatment of ordinary Members as epitomised in the North of England show the true character of the Leadership and instead of being the cream of the Party as good people leave or are pushed out, are quickly becoming the sediment.

It should not be necessary to have to defend our position in the North East. Were we not convinced that our actions were in the best interests
of the Party and its Members, we could easily resign. The fact is the Party is in the strangle hold of a few better equipped to run a corner
shop than a Political Party. If their behaviour is justified in the name of Politics, then it is of little surprise that politicians have a bad
name.Their is no way of excusing incompetence, and that is why the Party does not have the 30 to 40,000 Members it should have by now had it been properly run.

From the 6 Members of the North East Committee who refused to sign a trumped up document forcing us to support Candidate Troy as one of its tenets:-

(The decision not to place the names of the signatories to the above, was solely made by the editor of this Blog as a result of certain very unpleasant comments other earlier factual posts have attracted ).

Michael Harvey

The above ex sub-postmaster now glorifying in the power and title of General Party Secretary of UKIP, has apparently been putting it about on a party group discussion of which I am not a member that the reasons for my resignation are other than I stated in my post on these pages on 10th June 2003.

In this connection he points out that I was to be subject to a disciplinary hearing the following day. Had he taken the trouble to check with the Party Secretary, (confusingly a quite different position) presently held by one Derek Clark, he would have been aware that the disciplinary hearing had in fact had to be postponed and no new date had then been set.

As Mr Harvey has now made the disciplinary complaint a public matter, I am only too happy to acquaint readers of this Blog with the full details.

First some background. I was an MEP candidate for the North East region and attended the first hustings in Newcastle on 8th March. I knew my principal opponent for lead position was party employee and head office favourite Peter Troy. At that meeting I was subjected to a vicious attack from a "lady" in the audience who I was later informed was a very close friend and associate of the said Peter Troy called Chris Williamson.

Before the hustings had begun those present had been given a presentation on the "Shockwaves" video by Mr Graham Wood who had travelled from York for the meeting. It was fortunate that this independent figure was in attendance as he was kind enough to provide me with this statement on the events of that evening. Similar statements by any others present would have been worthless in view of the suspensions that were to follow.

Mr Wood wrote " ...I must say I was both amazed and somewhat shocked to witness the series of hostile questions to which you had been subject at the close of your address, and at the time was completely baffled by the level of opposition by an erstwhile political friend".

Mr Wood subsequently resigned his UKIP membership partly as a result of the activities of Peter Troy most particularly concerning the Hartlepool office.

In preparing my defence against the disciplinary complaint that had been brought against me I contacted Mr Wood and asked if I might use his e-mail in the hearing. He agreed and further amplified his original views as follows:-

"CW made the mistake against all precedent and the normal courtesies, of making a personal (and entirely unprovoked) attack in public against you at the hustings, instead of addressing objectively the wider issues of policy that your hustings speech legitimately raised.

"In my view to be subject to personal humiliation of that kind was inexcusable. The odd unguarded remark on her part could of course have been overlooked, but the fact that it was sustained at some length gives the impression that it had already been pre-planned. Best wishes in trying to establish the truth and clearing your name!"

It will by now be no surprise when I let it be known that the individual bringing the discipline complaint against me was none other than this same Chris Williamson who had attacked me with such vicious vindictiveness before we had even been introduced.

The actual nature of her complaint was really even more bizarre than her earlier unprovoked attacks. It involved this blogspot but particularly the posting of two letters, curiously neither of which were penned by myself. The first was the resignation letter of one of the other MEP candidates Mr William Chrystal. The other letter was that sent to UKIP members by the suspended NE regional committee members on 9th April countering certain allegations circulated by Chairman Lott.

I will leave it to those with the time or inclination to use the links above to read the letters to decide what really motivated Ms Williamson's complaint.

Ms Williamson charged that the postings on this site are designed to discredit the party, the individuals named (principally I presume, Peter Troy) and in consequence is bringing the party into disrepute It is the present leadership that is already bringing the party into disrepute, the blogspot is clearly designed to bring the facts into the open, facilitate a change at the top and a return of UKIP to the principles for which it is supposed to stand particularly the withdrawal of Britain from the EU.

As an internal investigation into some of the questions raised regarding Peter Troy, run by the Party Treasurer necessitated Troy standing down as lead candidate for the North East in spite of him having apparently????? topped the poll leaves it pretty clear as to whom was bringing the party in the North East into disrepute, and from her own behaviour who was helping him.

The fact that Troy's reputation is so undermined in the whole North of England has now even been understood by his protectors in London in that it is reported that he is now being moved by the party to work in Scotland. It of course does not explain why he continues to be tolerated as a party employee by the present leadership and merely re-inforces the huge questions raised by Bill Chrystal in his resignation letter.

We understand there will be a sham disciplinary hearing held against stalwart party members from the North East of England in London tomorrow. For that reason we have been delaying publication of the whole damning case against Troy. Other disciplinary complaints against hard-working, long-serving, dedicated party members, unprepared to tolerate the sort of malpractise clearly proven to have been going on, are still being delivered. Soon only the likes of Dick Morris will be able to feel at home within UKIP.

Chirac and Schroeder Stitch-Up Europe and Africa

We are still awaiting authorisation to post the full details of Peter Troy's activities in the North East Region whilst endeavouring to ensure he became lead candidate. In the interim we post two items that have been on another of our blogs during the week. The first unusually severe on anything to do with the EU is yesterday's Leader from the FT, the second something on Peter Hain on his wedding day!

Read this article, no further comment is necessary!

FT Editorial 13th June 2003 'A contemptible deal'

posted by Martin |8:26 PM

Peter Hain

An item and profile on Peter Hain in today's Daily Telegraph gives us the following quotes from the new Leader of the House. On the way the reshuffle was handled and the division of responsibilities over Wales he says:-

"this whole issue could have been communicated far more effectively from Downing Street" - but he insists he is "crystal clear" about what he is doing.

"I will continue as Welsh Secretary. I will do less of the ceremonial side - opening factories and visiting schools - but I will answer questions . . . People find change unsettling, but we are a radical, reforming government and we are going to stay that way."

Then later towards the end we have this quote:-

"If you'd told me 10 years ago that I'd be in this position, I'd have said: 'Dream on' . . . I've always been a doer in my political life. I've never been interested in rhetoric or posturing, so to have the privilege to actually do something is fantastic."

How quickly things change, it was only yesterday that we quoted him using this fine piece of rhetorical posturing:-

"But I just want to reassure everybody that I will continue with my ambition of creating a world-class Wales."

So now we know building a world class Wales is accomplished by answering questions. No wonder he thinks the Convention is purely a tidying-up exercise, he has failed to even begin to grasp the underlying fundamentals, too busy no doubt getting married, working on his boxes and ensuring he might not appear to be posturing. Hain is indeed a fitting symbol of this administration.

If you follow the link below to read the full piece on Hain, do take the chance to also read the Tom Utley's article in today's paper. His description of Tony Blair as a "jet setting piece of Eurotrash" and the comparative qualities of Cadbury Cream Egg McFlurries and Gin and Tonic are but two of the gems of the piece.

Martin Cole resigns from UKIP

Following yet one more inconclusive NEC meeting yesterday, Martin Cole today tendered his resignation from UKIP to General Secretary Michael Harvey. The resignation letter was as follows:-

Quote
Dear Sir, 10th June, 2003

I hereby tender my resignation from the United Kingdom Independence Party. The reasons for my resignation should be well known to yourself and can be summarised as follows:-

Membership manipulation and failure to investigate glaring irregularities
Disregard of electoral procedures by yourself and other senior party officers
Disregard of the rules concerning contacts with extremist organisations
Wrongful suspension of two Regional Committees
Wrongful disqualification of myself as an MEP candidate and a mockery of
a supposed impartial appeals process.

The recent association of the party with disgraced US political pollster Dick Morris, is but further evidence of the present leadership's gross political incompetence and for me the final proof that UKIP has lost any right to honourably represent the case for Britain?s withdrawal from Europe.

Yours faithfully,
Martin Cole

Unquote

Although not mentioned in the letter, as mocking laughter would be the sole result, another major reason for the resignation was the disgusting way in which UKIP had treated its dedicated volunteer party members and workers in the North East and the party's total determination to impose a disgraced and unsuitable candidate upon that Region. Permission is being sought to place on this Blog the letter detailing this saga which was presented to the NEC at yesterday's meeting and blithely disregarded. This will not be the end of that matter!

Peter Troy complains of Gossip

The following incredible post was placed on a UKIP chat forum:-

Date: Wed, 4 Jun 2003 19:37:39 +0100
Subject: [ind-uk 6/03] Issues please not gossip

I understood that the reason to have a group email system is to exchange
ideas and debate issues concerning the UK leaving the EU !

During the past few weeks most of the contributions from subscribers have
been concerned with internal party issues.

The tide is turning out there the people are waking up to the issue of EU
membership.

So lets please discus issues not gossip .

Peter Troy

It would seem the facts presented on this Blog are not sufficient for Troy's tastes. Fear not, arrangements are presently in hand for the FACTS (ie no gossip) to be placed on the UKIP mutual admiration leadership forum (run under yahoogroups, where ordinary members are forbidden to post) will appear very soon.

We will endeavour to obtain the actual post as soon as possible after it appears, meantime watch this Blog if you have a penchant for the Truth and a thirst for the facts.

Comments and criticisms are always welcome (particularly the former!)

The UKIP 'Thug' Image

Earlier today we posted a long attack on this Blogspot from an individual called Greg Lance-Watkins.

Who is this individual? At the opening of his attack he states he is a member of no political party; how then does he have access to "mail UKIP" which contributing party members are denied?

Longstanding UKIP members advise us that he is generally known within the party as a mouthpiece for Nigel Farage. This seems borne out by researches we have undertaken; one of the earliest references to his name being associated with UKIP coming in the documentation concerning the Metropolitan Police inquiries into the missing party membership lists in the spring/summer of the year 2000.

Subsequently his name appears as a contact for Foot and Mouth Ground Force Contacts alongside that of Diane Ellis, the one time partner of Peter Troy, who of course, is at the very epicentre of these present problems. Hardly the independent impartial observer of events that he tries to paint himself.

What of the charge made much of that we seek to hide behind anonymity. Absolute nonsense, the e-mail of last Saturday was shown as having been sent by Martin Cole, from both the two hotmail addresses used. Had GLW been a party member he would have received the e-mail direct with the sender's name clearly shown. In our attempt to restrict circulation to UKIP party members only, his name was excluded, although we did of course have his e-mail address and knew of his association with Nigel Farage.

In spite of being asked to consider the facts, which are nonexistent, we are instead subjected to a stream of vicious personal attack of which this quoted below is certainly the most outrageous:-

We are asked to wonder whether contributors to this blog are still on the sex offenders register for abusing children?

We can categorically state that no contributor to this blog has ever appeared on such a register nor ever had any criminal record. The suggestion is totally without foundation and must stand as a monument of shame against he who made it, and those who choose to be associated with this individual. So much for facts.

It is perfectly clear the writer, although running a bookshop has certainly no idea of the meaning of the word debate, to which he challenges us at the end of his diatribe, and which we therefore decline.

We reproduce it partly because it answers some questions for which we have been seeking answers, particularly:

1) Why did three separate people from Newcastle University ask Martin Cole to refrain from bad language, personal attacks and prevent rowdiness when he appeared there to make a speech in March?
2) Why did the Daily Telegraph make the statement in its editorial that readers could vote UKIP if that's your cup of tea?
3) Why have friends of long standing queried some members of this team about their membership of this party "with its known reputation for thuggishness and possible far right connections"? All of which accusations we have until recently been fiercely denying.

The decisions by the NEC on the matters relating to the problems in the North East have apparently been postponed until next Monday 9th June. We ordinary UKIP members thus have a few more days to make our voices heard; time to finally drown out the kind of venom that is spewed out from this particular friend of Farage.

Why did we put the whole sorry thing on our site? It is unsavoury, it is badly constructed and frequently grammatically incorrect and many of the spelling errors are basic and painful. BUT it illustrates an attitude. One we can best descibe as the''thuggish' tendency within UKIP.

A Challenge from Greg Lance Watkins

Last Sunday evening a response to our circular e-mail Circular e-mail was posted on a platform called ukip mail from which the originators of this Blogspot and Martin Cole have been deliberately excluded, as has the latter also been excluded from the main UKIP chat forum moderated by the General Party Secretary (so much for UKIPs claims to a belief in free speech).

This is a particularly unpleasant diatribe, and we have removed the names of certain senior party members which it unjustifiably attacks. Otherwise it is posted in full as received from a third party, the author lacking the courtesy of addressing his reply either directly to us or on a site to which we have access!

Those not wishing to churn through the whole thing can await our next post where we shall give our considered view to the few points made that might be deemed worthy of answer. We place this vitriol on our site as we feel it clearly demonstrates the true nature of the problems afflicting UKIP.

PLEASE CIRCULATE WIDELY & APPROPRIATELY.
UKIP is Making Real Progress Inspite of A Few Fools
Hi,
At the end of this article I have printed, in full, a vitriolic, self centred, inaccurate, personalised and not surprisingly unsigned!!! Attack on Britains ONLY realistic lifeboat at this time UKIP.
I am not a member of any political party and have NO financial or party gains to make and thus consider ONLY the well being of Britain and our peoples, as I understand decency and integrity to stand and their best interests to pertain. I do not come to this discussion from any religious or superstitious view point as I have little but contempt for ALL such superstitions.
I do not demand that you agree with me but I do ask that you consider the facts before you, your country and ultimately the peace of this planet is before you and in YOUR hands.
I shall endeavour to address only the points made in the attack below, point by point.
I have placed the strongest point of evidence towards the end.
I regret, perforce, this rebuttal is long and in some places detailed, I have checked every fact I put forward, where possible, and leave YOU to draw your own conclusions [unlike the attacker who gave NO substantiation of their vitriol.] You may well receive this document as an attachment, or as an email or broken into a series of numbered emails. I apologise if you receive it in various formats, or in duplication but I believe that it requires the widest coverage and to that end would ask you to forward it to others.
To avoid being as despicable as the attacker and hiding behind anonymity and for those who do not know me my name is Greg Lance-Watkins, I am a retailer and book dealer in Chepstow with an 8 room shop carrying some 60,000 titles of rare, antiquarian, new and secondhand books. I also stock stamps, coins, medals, cap badges, bank notes, tokens, post cards and antiquarian maps and prints. My shop is open from around 10.30ish. each morning and closes at 17.30hrs. 6 days a week and my phone number is 01291 62 65 62.
If you have a problem with ANY of this communication please do not hesitate to contact me as I will ALWAYS stand by what I say.
Each point in the rebuttal commences with a number and the statement is in parenthesis, my response commences and ends with a double asterix viz. ** I do hope you find it easy to follow.**
To continue:
===============================
01 Dear fellow Member of the UK Independence Party,
**in view of the comments made in the attack and the obvious wish of the author to remain anon. Perhaps considering just how out of step with reality, UKIP, the majority of the NEC, the leaders and the majority of the membership of UKIP surely the only act of integrity you can make is resign!**
02 We at the blogspot http://ukipuncovered.blogspot.com
**who are obviously too ashamed to admit who we are? Though I understand the web site is a follow on from that posted by Martin Cole and seemingly much in tune with Britain in EUrope.**
03 have been trying over the last couple of months to throw some light on the
workings of our party.
**this of course is patently untrue all one need do is read the web site to KNOW the aim is to harm Britain by damaging UKIP. Perhaps if it was true they would realise how the Party is on the verge of some very big strides forward. Perhaps if they want to undersdtand the workingsthey could try doing some rather than fermenting vitriolic pique.**
04 It is, we regret to have to inform you, in dire straits.
**How right you are YOUR party is in dire straits but you are a tiny irrelevant faction, UKIP however is seemingly going from strength to strength. Anything anyone can do CONSTRUCTIVELY to further UKIP will I am sure be most welcome by those with integrity on the NEC.
The very few on the NEC who might be foolish enough to wish to make mischief with this sordid little web site will no doubt be leaping up and down like small children with wet knickers clamouring to be seen and in their insecurity wanting votes of No confidence in those who form the backbone of the party. They will be the faction who like dizzy queens in a pantomime invoke their personal lawyers at every opportunity like Widow Twankey invoking Giants!!**
05 Please take the time to try to visit our web site over the coming weekend. There you will find various articles and comments on recent startling events surrounding the attempts to impose selected head office favourites on certain regions for the upcoming European
Parliamentary elections.
**I did of course waste my time so doing, before I wrote this, I found nothing remotely startling and a malign list of sour grapes. I would suggest I become the last person to waste their time reading the rubbish but each of you may read it if you wish!!
I must say I am glad that the fact that the Party rules WERE imposed in the recent elections, is highlighted on the web site, and I trust the returning officer will be invoking others to call for resignations and effect dismissals from the party of certain NEC members over the next few days.**
06 Also there is some background information
**From a very jaundiced perspective, as will be immediately noticed the entire web site seems to be set up to benefit the EU Soviet, as it aims to harm the honest endeavours of hardworking members of UKIP like Lott, Farage, Knapman, Booth and the like.
It is interesting to note who is attacked and note it is those who are most frequently to be seen and heard on the media and at public meetings the length and breadth of Britain. Those who regularly fight for Britain against the EU Soviet.**
07 on our present leadership and past controversial incidents,
**utter irrelevancies as UKIP is a forward looking party aiming to help Britain NOT a party set up to write the history of Britains demise not one of the points raised seemed of consequence to today or in the future!**
08 such as the pirated video tapes and the attempt to extort money from the Conservative Party at the last general election.
**These two are classic examples of the calibre of these sad people lets look more closely:
The so calledpirated video this was a video produced by the BBC featuring in the main UKIPs and particularly Farages blistering attacks on the EU Soviet the BBC were so frightened of the damage that general release would cause their sponsors the EU Soviet and Tiny Blur & Drowning Street that they suppressed the programme. A copy of the video was obtained by legitimate means and it was duplicated by Farage and put in the public domain.
The BBC indulged in a certain amount of aimless sabre rattling for cosmetic purposes and UKIP are to be congratulated on producing the video not quite how Cole &/or Britain in EUrope or vitriolic non entities like ****, ****, ****, ****, or the like would wish it to be seen!!
On the point of seeking funding from the Tories well done those who tried. It would be fun to see the undecided and uncommitted funding UKIP who ever they are. Dont forget the offer was made tongue in cheek that UKIP would not stand against certain timorous beasties in the Tory party like Redwood, Letwin and the like who are EUroSceptics too fond of their jobs to actually be honest and campaign to leave the EU. Well done UKIP for trying to make these weak men honest!!**
09 Although it is unlikely that outsiders would casually come across the web site, there are certain other matters so serious that we
have considered it unwise to place details on the website. Among these are the threats of personal violence made against those who
ave had the courage to try and resist the descent of our party towards the gutter.
**One has to wonder whether those who support the web site are still on the sex offenders register for abusing children?
A measure of them is that in that I am backing my EVERY statement with my name and am readily available, having given my address and phone number, it is more likely that MY ungrounded accusation against them will prove more plausible than theirs against UKIP especially as EVERY point so far made by them I have PROVED to be a falsehood or a dishonest misrepresentation.**
10 The Chairman/woman of the North East and Yorkshire regions, who have no connection with one another except for the elected positions they hold in their respective regions, both received an offer of personal protection from a company providing bodyguards namely, CSPA (UK) Ltd., of Harrogate. Nobody can of course prove this was a threat, nor indeed that it had any connection with anybody within UKIP, but it seems an extraordinary coincidence. Especially as we have been told of a more open threat delivered elsewhere.
**It is a good job that all debate against UKIP is of this sort of childish calibre. Of course they were in contact they both have phones, use email and attend meetings! Why make such a transparent lie?
Well done the marketing department of CSPA(UK) Ltd. They are obviously on the ball!!
When it comes to threats call me if you are frightened I have outstanding written death threats against me which were sent to the press and are open files with Special Branch so what! I can tell you for free it is better than being at the wrong end of automatics in the hands of Congo Goons, Philipino dissidents, Manaus Security Guards or BOSS been there, done that, even the EU Soviets enforcers are amateurs by comparison J **
11 We do not know the reasons for the recent resignation of the NW regional committee chairwoman and NEC member,
**I do and I can assure you it is without sinister motive or conspiracy she travelled a long distance and was not prepared to watch the posturing of certain NEC members for 8 hours as at the last NEC, she and most grown ups found the behaviour of a small number of members of the NEC to be selfish, self important and disruptive it is hardly the place to rehearse the part of Kenneth Williams in a bad Carry on Movie!!**
12 but her voice for the ordinary membership will be badly missed.
**Very true if it was not for the fact that UKIP has a process for replacement dont forget there is no shortage of people who aspire to elected office the problem is finding ways to block out the useless! As proven by many of those on the NEC who one rarely sees or hears on the media or public meetings except when they want YOUR vote!!**
13 If the upcoming NEC meeting on Monday goes the way of those in the recent past, more such reasonable voices may be lost,
**this is always a danger in any Party just look at Labour and the Tories for proof. It is a relief however that NONE of the fools on the NEC hold responsible positions either on the NEC or in the Party, nor did they show well in the recent polls and it is probable that several of those seeking to disrupt the party for personal, religious or EU gain will be gone soon.**
14 and the task of recuing the party will become hopeless.
**how you do betray your aims this threat overlooks completely the need for UKIP and the certainty that Britain WILL leave the EU Soviet and it is a matter of how and when. Dont despair once you and your supporters with your constant flow of vitriolic angst have left UKIP it will progress much faster UKIPs achievements have been inspite of the likes of your clique and as you wither away the party will be enhanced.**
15 Our commendation and thanks should be due to those who in spite of all this have remained with the party and continue to fight to
return it onto a sounder course. Imagine for a moment how you would feel, first receiving a solicitor's letter informing you that you
were suspended from your elected position, a role to which you had devoted many freely given hours a day for some considerable time.
**Here of course the truth comes out sour grapes!!
Of course the clique you allude to were recipients of solicitors letters, they were in direct breach of the rules of UKIP and the letter could not of course have been sent by the Party solicitor without legitimate and legal instruction.
You fail to point out the FACT that the letter to which you allude merely requested their signature thereto accepting they would abide by the rules for the election being terribly self important people [who very few people out of their area had heard of] they were spurred on by the support of a few sychophants and certain NEC traitors, or so it seems, and decided to run THEIR region how they wanted regardless of the rules. They refused to be bound by the rules so their respective committees were obviously disbanded.
You also fail to point out their abuse of privilege and their subsequent use of party assets.
IF, as proven, these little folk are too stupid or too self centred to understand rules then Im sure most members would agree UKIP is better off without them. The immense EFFORTS claimed are reflected by the miniscule achievement of those individuals in either recruiting OR fund raising!! UKIP has around 180 members in the NE do YOU believe that is adequate? Do you believe that grants those there a license to ignore the Head Office? GOOD RIDANCE if they are not with UKIP they are obviously against UKIP as their web site and distribution shows.
The astonishing part is they were so keen to corrupt the election that they ignored the solicitors letter, the Party rules and the British Justice system!! How right UKIPs senior management were to fire them!
It is strange that people who constantly berate the Tories for not firing the traitor in their midst Heath, Clarke, Portaloo, Maude, Berkow and the like are expected to tolerate traitors in their own midst.**
16 This blow, only to be followed by weeks of concerted and unjustified attacks, innuendo and villification
**All of which could have been avoided if the individuals in question had the integrity to honour the rules and abide by the terms of the solicitors letter sent to them by UKIP!**
17 being finally capped by the arrival of a glossy brochure from a private protection firm, with its inherent suggestion that you might well soon be in need of such services? Can anyone seriously believe that an ordinary volunteer party member going about their daily lives could possibly afford such a service?
**Poor diddums frightened of a brochure!!!!! In answer to your question could they afford? Well very likely they could when you think that ****, in direct breech of the rules and in abuse of her position in UKIP, could afford to and did call meetings to directly campaign AGAINST a certain candidate an action so corrupt in electoral terms that it is to be hoped she will be ditched by UKIP within days! Yes they may well have been able to afford such services, they could even have sent each other brochures, consider **** can afford in flagrant breech of the electoral rules to abuse his position on the NEC and openly provide an entire video seeking to campaign against an individual in UKIPs election I wonder if he will have the integrity to resign? I doubt it, for it is not the first time he has set out at substantial cost, in abuse of his position, to subvert the outcome of a UKIP election! Hardly surprising for a former Labour Councillor with an interest in his own political grouping for which he writes & publishes!**
18 On Monday 2nd June the NEC of the UK Independence Party will meet with several critical items on its agenda. Please contact any
Committee member you may know and make your opinion on these important matters known. Is it not democracy for which we fight?
Urgent decisions are required on the following:
**This position I concur and may I suggest you also ask them to congratulate those on the NEC and in office who are most frequently seen in the media and at public meetings around the country espousing UKIPs position and refraining where possible from attacking each other in public!!**
19 1) The reinstatement of the Yorkshire & Humberside and North East Regional Committees. Failing this legal proceedings look inevitable and the party's case weak.
**There will of course be NEW Regional Committees instated where appropriate in accord with the Party Rules etc.
The Party case if taken to law is bomb proof in that the correct actions and the correct warnings and the correct solicitors letters were all duly issued in accord with law. There is NO doubt there were irregularities by the respective committees.
Let us hope the NEW committee for the NE recruits rather more than the paltry number their predecessors recruited.
As a personal anecdote I well recall being forced to invoke the Chair, and an MEP and the party leader to have a candidate instated in the NE who was VERY well respected there and exceeding well connected NE Committee tried to block him because he was not in their clique! Or so it seemed and also tried to claim it was too much work!!! Im glad they have been fired it is often worth cutting out a cancer before it invades the whole body!**
20 2) The situation following ****'s resignation as MEP candidate and the implications on Cole's earlier and now upheld disqualification.
**It is self evident in this instance that although it is Coles territory the web site is miss informed. Having seen the details of Troy and being aware of the situation from both angles please permit my discresion on this point! I can assure you the inference of the web sites point (2) is incorrect.**
21 3) Settlement or continuation of the imminently pending High Court case regarding an earlier candidate disqualification in an NEC
election.
**This I presume is the rather ridiculous **** woman who constantly makes protestations that she has no desire to harm the party and then puts a price tag on it. She is sadly without shame and unfortunately backed by a couple of fools the old adage of give a child the backing of an adult and they will take on the world, I am not convinced how adult are those seeking to support her big fish in a little pond springs to mind.
Unfortunately **** comes across as either a fool or utterly without integrity in my opinion and it may interest you to know she was forced to apologise for her behaviour in the NEC elections or be disqualified as the returning officer will confirm. The matter was taken no further and there was no need to disqualify her as the electorate cast very few votes for her!
Dont forget this is the same **** who has tried to make money by taking UKIP to Court before and then as I recall she was censured by the Court for her abuse of position and lack of probity in financial terms! I believe I am correct in substance but would suggest anyone wanting more information consult the Courts Public Record.
Anyone who wants further details of **** and **** is welcome to contact Ind. UK, who will surely have kept copies of my various correspondence on the matter.**
22 4) The implications for the party's finances of the likely legal costs involved in fighting items 1 to 3 above,
**There is no doubt this is true and unfortunately one is forced to invest money in strong legal defence however corrupt, batty or inaccurate the claims may be consider for a moment whose money those who rush to litigation against UKIP are seeking to get their hands on do they care about Britain, Justice or UKIP, do they care about freedom, individuals or rights. Much is made of their dedicated underpaid contributionJ based on their conviction how soon that reverts to avarice!!!**
23 given the overspending in the incompetently handled recent local and regional elections.
**Yet again crass misinformation the local and regional elections were a tremendous achievement by UKIP particularly in Wales where the number of votes gained, as a result of investment of time and money, was 4 times that EVER obtained by UKIP, in Wales alone markedly more deposits were saved than in the whole of these United Kingdoms at the last election!!! Well done UKIP and congratulations to those who backed the investment in Britains future. Failure to have done so would have proved disastrous at the next EP elections as there would have been so little to build on.**
24 5) Halting immediately any further contact with the disgraced pollster Dick Morris as reported in last Thursday's Daily Telegraph.
**Oh what bitter little people you are!!
Dick Morris is a HIRED HAND and is assisting UKIP in various areas, already his engagement has given rise to more beneficial publicity than has EVER come from either the NE or the Yorkshire Region.
It is probable that the only individual in the tantrum club who has generated more publicity on their own, of recent years, was when he was on TV claiming something along the lines of he would have a bum lift!!! Well I guess many have tried!!!*
25 And last but very far from least..
**Praise be for that! I am bored witless rebutting such a negative, self aggrandising, inaccurate load of clap trap you should seek help or alternatively try suicide, or both!!!*
26 6) Surely, now, at this late stage, the calling to account by the NEC of those responsible for the current situation. **
**I understand this just might well be done tomorrow and **** will be dumped for her duplicity, **** will either accept that he has to behave like a grown up or quit, his childish tantrums and rants and threats ill become any meeting of consequence, it may impress little girls in the hair dressers but being a prat can be a serious disadvantage in real life!
**** of course will follow **** for as long as he is taken seriously and patted on the head by him and poor old Tony is so mixed up despite his money he seems not to understand either the meaning of loyalty or it would seem the aims of UKIP, but seeks to be the centre of controversy to enhance his seemingly sad life.
Let us leave it at that, regarding individuals, for we all know who benefits UKIP and who are, with those I have named, seeking notoriety and trying like crazy to hang onto positions and UKIP which is growing so much faster than their ability!**
27 Can it really be too much to hope that serious steps might now be taken to remove the incompetents who are driving the party into the ground at the very time outside events are moving so clearly in the Eurorealists favour.
**Having now read the facts you can make your own judgement who is of value to UKIP and Britain and who are just there for their own selves!**
28 The Blogspot UKIP Uncovered can be visited for further detailed background material on all these matters by clicking on the link
http://ukipuncovered.blogspot.com
**Having been proven here to be nothing more than self seeking mischief making which favours the EU Soviet by trying to harm UKIP it will be interesting to see if they have the integrity to remove their site!**
29 Read what you choose and believe it or not, but let the NEC members know how you feel about the future of our party. Preferably ahead of Monday's crucial meeting, for if it goes the same way as recent such gatherings yet more decent volunteer members may well see no
alternative but to resign!
**I re-itterate my request that you do contact the responsible members of the NEC, those you hear regularly on media and public platforms working for UKIPs cause and Britain. As members ask that the time wasters and trouble makers are at least marginalized or better still forced to resign. It is ridiculous that a small claque of showboaters can force an NEC meeting into the stultifying boredom of 8 hours! Imagine the self importance of NEC members sabre rattling to show off and threatening personal legal action to get their own way repeatedly at an NEC meeting if they are so useless that they need a lawyer to speak for them why dont they resign with dignity and we could use the lawyer to replace themJ!! Cant such juvenile and inadequate little people be left out of meetings and UKIP run responsibly by a management team of some substance comprising those who do the real work rather than ringing round their claque fermenting trouble and misinforming to try to trick NEC members into not coming to meetings!**
30 This email has been sent to as many NEC members as possible and copied to a party discussion forum. As many ordinary members as possible have been sent blind copies.
**It is to be hoped that they will realise the aim of the original was to dupe them and was sent with dishonest and malevolent intent how could such behaviour be EVER seen as constructive or in the interest of UKIP or Britain save only by the self deluded OR those in the employ of the EU Soviet.**
31 Forward this to other UKIP members you may feel might have an interest. Get them to drop us an email if they wish to be included
in an future updates, should such be necessary.
**I trust all of you receiving this rebuttal will ensure that it reaches as large an audience.**
32 If you are not a UKIP member or have no interest in receiving future communications, please also send us an email and we will remove you from our listings. We are sorry to have troubled you.
**Surely the whole aim was to trouble people!!**
33 Democracy depends on information, we aim to keep you aware of what is happening within the UK Independence Party, nothing more nor less.
**Firstly why have you so repeatedly aimed to deceive? Secondly why have you based your vitriol on distortions?**
34 In any event, please consider this dilemma, if we cannot fight to win back our party from the undemocratic and secretive forces that
now have it in their grip, how can we expect to lead the fight to win back our Country from the undemocratic and secretive powers of the EU.
**This is nothing more than a have you stopped beating your wifestatement there is no evidence whatsoever given or led that UKIP is, as you try to claim, in the hands of: undemocratic and secretive forces that now have it in their gripthis is the politics of the play ground grow up.
IF you have something worthwhile to say bring it on!! I challenge you to an open debate to make your point before a public audience in Chepstow. I will provide a venue suitable for 100 people, since it is YOU who are making the accusations no item may be led in your debate for which you can not bring documentary evidence and provenance.
I appreciate that my public rebuttal of your publically distributed tantrum may well lead to upsetting the dignity of a few self important people consider the harm you do. The hours wasted by both dreaming up your imagined and implied vitriol, maintaining the web site and distributing your inaccurate poison is of little consequence, you seem to have proved you are of little use in the fight against the EU Soviet.
However consider the time wasted of people reading both your poison and the needed rebuttal which could so much more constructively have been spent recruiting for UKIP, which of course the NE knows little about as proven by their results.
More importantly could I bring it to your attention that it is more important rebutting the lies of Blair & Drowning Street and the evil of the obscene centralised, corrupt EU Soviet.
What have you done to undermine the EUro and the evil concept that Britains economy should be managed by a secretive clique of bankers for the benefit of France & Germany in line with the Treaty of Elysee of 1963. Have you read, let alone addressed the issues of the proposed Constitution for the new Soviet?
Just what do you do of value to UKIP or Britain?
I repeat my challenge:
Attend and debate, openly, with integrity, evidence and provenance OR have the integrity to resign from UKIP and advise those who support your malicious stance to likewise resign and also since if you will not attend to debate you have obviously accepted you are proven dishonest and a liar thus have the integrity to remove your web site within seven days.

Circular E-Mail to UKIP Members

The following e-mail was sent by Martin Cole, last Saturday morning to several members of UKIP National Executive Committee with blind copies to as many ordinary party members as possible.

Quote

I apologise to members of the NEC who are receiving multiple copies of this email. This is due to our attempt to reach as broad and as large a cross section of the membership as possible thus giving them the chance to respond directly to you. We are limited in the number of recipients we can include on each message, and the daily total we can send from one hotmail address.

Dear Fellow Member of the UK Independence Party,

We at the blogspot http://ukipuncovered.blogspot.com have been trying over the last couple of months to throw some light on the workings of our party. It is, we regret to have to inform you, in dire straits.

Please take the time to try to visit our web site over the coming weekend. There you will find various articles and comments on recent startling events surrounding the attempts to impose selected head office favourites on certain regions for the upcoming European Parliamentary elections. Also there is some background information on our present leadership and past controversial incidents, such as the pirated video tapes and the attempt to extort money from the Conservative Party at the last general election.

Although it is unlikely that outsiders would casually come across the web site, there are certain other matters so serious that we have considered it unwise to place details on the website. Among these are the threats of personal violence made against those who have had the courage to try and resist the descent of our party towards the gutter.

The Chairman/woman of the North East and Yorkshire regions, who have no connection with one another except for the elected positions they hold in their respective regions, both received an offer of personal protection from a company providing bodyguards namely, CSPA (UK) Ltd., of Harrogate. Nobody can of course prove this was a threat, nor indeed that it had any connection with anybody within UKIP, but it seems an extraordinary coincidence. Especially as we have been told of a more open threat delivered elsewhere.

We do not know the reasons for the recent resignation of the NW regional committee chairwoman and NEC member, but her voice for the ordinary membership will be badly missed. If the upcoming NEC meeting on Monday goes the way of those in the recent past, more such reasonable voices may be lost, and the task of recuing the party will become hopeless.

Our commendation and thanks should be due to those who in spite of all this have remained with the party and continue to fight to return it onto a sounder course. Imagine for a moment how you would feel, first receiving a solicitor's letter informing you that you were suspended from your elected position, a role to which you had devoted many freely given hours a day for some considerable time. This blow, only to be followed by weeks of concerted and unjustified attacks, innuendo and villification being finally capped by the arrival of a glossy brochure from a private protection firm, with its inherent suggestion that you might well soon be in need of such services? Can anyone seriously believe that an ordinary volunteer party member going about their daily lives could possibly afford such a service?

On Monday 2nd June the NEC of the UK Independence Party will meet with several critical items on its agenda. Please contact any Committee member you may know and make your opinion on these important matters known. Is it not democracy for which we fight?
Urgent decisions are required on the following:

1) The reinstatement of the Yorkshire & Humberside and North East Regional Committees. Failing this legal proceedings look inevitable and the party's case weak.

2) The situation following Troy's resignation as MEP candidate and the implications on Cole's earlier and now upheld disqualification.

3) Settlement or continuation of the imminently pending High Court case regarding an earlier candidate disqualification in an NEC election.

4) The implications for the party's finances of the likely legal costs involved in fighting items 1 to 3 above, given the overspending in the incompetently handled recent local and regional elections.

5) Halting immediately any further contact with the disgraced pollster Dick Morris as reported in last Thursday's Daily Telegraph.

And last but very far from least…..

6) Surely, now, at this late stage, the calling to account by the NEC of those responsible for the current situation. Can it really be too much to hope that serious steps might now be taken to remove the incompetents who are driving the party into the ground at the very time outside events are moving so clearly in the Eurorealists’ favour.

The World According to Chairman Lott

Some recent quotes from UKip's Chairman:-

When the party leader travelled to the NE he attended two meetings - neither of which was to promote the UKIP but to obtain general publicity but without mentioning the name of UKIP.

"It will help a “Lott"

Please try to keep emails to a minimum, it will help a lot.

Chairman Lott, (the Minister of Information for UKIP)

The NE problem has been resolved but the final solution has been imposed by the NEC as the people in the NE refused to agree to an earlier NEC decision.

There was absolutely NO bending of the rules. I simply do not do that sort of thing.

……..’s candidacy was forwarded to the NE but for some reason was not taken seriously as he was not invited to the hustings meetings.

Once approved it is not up to anybody else to alter that, otherwise, as I am sure you will appreciate, the whole candidate interview and selection procedure would fall apart.

………………Contradicted not a Lott later by……………….
From what you say it seems it was on your original application form and then deleted when you agreed to stand in the NE but I do not know if that was the case or not.

The material for an attack on the leadership is a total fabrication.

You may remember that Roger warned this sort of destabilising process would happen the more successful we are. Well we are being successful!!

The NEC has acted in the case of the NE which we expect will draw a line under the affair.

Please believe your NEC and not that of an infiltrator.

There has been no gerrymandering here at all

After that the list was finally closed other than to the late entrants under the special rules requiring agreement of all the candidates on the list

No one was deliberately re-instated in March. They were always on the list but were simply overlooked.

Please understand there has not been any conspiracy to forward the
chances of any candidate whatsoever.

Busy Doing Not a Lott :-

Why on earth should I feel embarrassed about working hard? Odd.

I have masses to do as we are in the critical few days before all the procedures and paperwork for hundreds of local election candidates and all those in the Scottish and Welsh campaigns have to be completed.

…you will gain some sympathy for the incredible pressure under which some of us are working.

Something went wrong with my last transmission. I wrote one thing and it appears it sent the original message!

Concluding with:

My hand has to be very steady on the tiller right now.

All such speculation is purely in the minds of others

I am getting tired of defending the most democratic system used by any party in the UK for the selection of candidates. That, ……, is my final word on this issue

I do not seek or want any further correspondence on this issue.

Hopefully this will be not only the first, but also the last post we make on this subject. If, tomorrow, the UKIP NEC decide to continue with this particularly unsteady hand on the tiller, then we shall provide regular updates from the rich source available, until, that is, we all hit the rocks. (Small point on nautical terminology - small boats such as dinghies, lifeboats etc., have tillers bigger ships have wheels!) Are we all adrift in a lifeboat?
