To What Ground should UKIP Break from its EU Bridgehead?

The following quote comes from a commentator on Conservative Home to the report on UKIP by Lord Ashcroft yesterday, which seemed so apt and important that I tweeted it as follows:

"Now that Ukip have reached out from their Europe bridgehead, they're able to roam at will into whatever territory they wish to challenge"CH

As I posted yesterday UKIP should now best proceed by treating the three established Westminster parties as one and the same and entirely equal enemies of all that is in the best interests of our country.

Having established it credentials as being prepared to speak out over the EU into other areas, as evidenced by Lord Ashcroft's research, how can that fact best be capitalized to counter an inevitable acceptance by the other three that an in/out referendum on the EU has become unavoidable?

The whipping system in Westminster has made zombies of their sitting back -benchers, which mental constipation now has clearly spread across the front benches too. UKIP should reject it!

UKIP should adopt basic unalterable principles it will carry into government otherwise it should allow elected MPs to frame their own votes, issue by issue according to their own views or internet gleaned opinions of their constituents in accordance with pledges made prior to their elections.

This is such a startling concept that it should sweep sitting MPs clean away and restore democracy to our re-instated independent country governed from a truly representative parliament.

Such a stance should improve the chances of an OUT vote in the now inevitable EU referendum, an outcome that is regrettably presently far from certain, given the huge resources available to the evil EU empire and the corrupt servitude towards it of those presently in power!

LibDems to offer Britain an In or Out Referendum on the EU.

The Liberal Democrat Foreign Affairs spokesman, Ed Davey has just promised on BBC 2 Foreign Affairs debate, with William Hague and David Miliband, that Britain will be given a full IN or OUT referendum on the EU before any more powers are ceded to the EU.

Considering that last Friday the Commission started pushing for "Economic Governance" and that the LibDems now look poised to be the election winners this is indeed fantastic news.

Write to a to a Lord

Campaign for a Referendum on Europe (CREC) has a web site linked here.

The purple postcard campaign is continuing apace with 175,100 issued in the 86 days since the campaign got re-started:

The CREC suggest writing to a member of the House of Lords where the second reading of the EU Reform/Lisbon/Constitutional Treaty begins on April Fools Day, We, the people, are of course the fools in this deceitful process.

Details of how to contact a Lord are linked here.

The suggested points by the CREC you may wish to raise are here:

9 Reasons why the Lords should give us a referendum

(1) The provisions of the Lisbon Treaty/Constitution are virtually the same as those of the rejected European Constitution

(2) To pass off the Lisbon Treaty/Constitution as different from the European Constitution is a deceit by the leaders of Europe

(3) The Lisbon Treaty/Constitution in its previous form of the European Constitution was rejected by the French and the Dutch

(4) There is the clearest possible evidence that the British people want a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty/Constitution

(5) To allow the British people a vote on this very important Treaty for the future of our nation would help to restore people’s faith in Parliament

(6) The British people have had no direct vote on the European issue since 1975

(7) The three main political parties, including of course the governing party, made clear, unequivocal promises in their respective election manifestos to give the British people a referendum on the European Constitution or any similar Treaty

(8) In June this year, the Irish government is allowing its people a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty/Constitution. If Parliament does not allow the British people to vote on this Treaty, we will be seen to be less democratic than the Irish

(9) Finally, the Lisbon Treaty/Constitution gives power to European institutions to remove further powers from national Parliaments without their consent.
