Dear All,
You may by now have seen an e-mail from myself to NEC members marked ‘Strictly Confidential’ & ‘NEC ONLY’, which has been circulated widely over the internet.
Firstly, I would like to confirm that the contents of the e-mail message are not true.
Secondly, the covering letter which has been circulated on the internet suggest that those named explicitly in the e-mail were contacted for an explanation. This is not true. No attempt has been made to contact any of those concerned.
Thirdly, the source of the leak on the party’s NEC has now been established, and disciplinary action will be taken immediately.
I would like to apologise to members who may have been given temporary heart failure by the contents of the e-mail, but I am sure you will agree that it was necessary to find the source of the leak on the NEC, and unfortunately, this was the only means by which it could be done.
