Nigel Farage to stand in South Thanet

The Daily Telgraph follows up its report of yesterday on Jonathan Aitkin not standing for his old seat in Thanet by the forecast that Nigel Farage MEP and real leader of UKIP will announce his candidature for that constituency later today. The item from the papers 'News in Brief' section is linked from here.

By contrast The Independent gives extensive coverage to a kindly sounding Conservative activist in Devon, busy around the Torridge area by all accounts. It is titled 'My Great Blue Yonder' and is linked from here. The lead-in to this article specifically cites the risk of UKIP votes for the Tories! Quote "I will ask people who voted UKIP to vote Conservative, because the 2,000 UKIP votes in Devon in the last election cost the Conservatives this seat." Unquote
