Heartfelt plea for UKIP sanity

I cannot vouch for this letter, as it was sent on to me anonymously. It has the ring of truth and the message is very much one with which I can agree. So it is published as received! It apparently comes from the pool of voters UKIP now most needs to tap, one of those who had given up voting:-

Quote

Well UKIP where do we go from here ?

Having spent many years trying to understand what politics is all about and eventually voting for something I thought I understood only later to feel let down and confused by it all again. It was a great feeling to eventually put a cross on a piece of paper for something I really felt strongly about and confident that I was making a good choice for the right reasons. Yes I voted UKIP.

Who am I, well I suppose I am what you would call a middle of the road man having retired from the Police Service and always tried to be honest, truthful and a fair person. I have one house, one wife, one child and have never felt that I was a burden on the social system. When taking the time to vote I tended to swing towards the Conservatives simply because I felt that the MP's seemed to be a bit more independent minded, but after many years I eventually lost the interest in any form of politics as it all seemed a waste of time and energy. Therefore I became very lethargic about the need to vote feeling that whatever I did would not change things as the parties were starting to look and sound the same. Having lived and worked through both the parties in office I truly could not tell much difference and certainly do not feel any better off.

Well where did that leave me, nowhere to be truthful. I was actually considering giving up on voting and just letting the rest of them get on with it, knowing that nothing would ever change anyway.

Then one morning I heard this guy on the telly talking and sounding very sure of what he was standing for and in fact I all of a sudden started to nod and feel that I understood most of what he was on about. For me this was a very rare thing as most political speeches leave me feeling numb and cold. As he came to the end of his speech I thought I know this guy and after a few minutes I recognised him, as yes - Robert Kilroy-Silk. The next few weeks was spent talking to friends, family and others about this man and his comments and most seemed to agree and felt that was how they themselves were feeling - wanting political truth, honesty and independence from what was becoming a European monster.

Before this I had never been a great fan of Robert Kilroy-Silk and often when his TV program came on made a lunge for the remote to switch over to something else, well in fact anything. So I do not come from the line of Robert Kilroy-Silk followers who think he is great, but he certainly started to get my attention this time.

The thing is where had this UKIP come from and where the hell had they been. Whatever you want to say about Robert Kilroy-Silk he certainly brought UKIP to the front and with his speaking ability helped to get the message out to all those unknowns like myself that were falling into the pit of non voters. Like a shock wave the word went about and the next thing I knew everyone around me was going to vote UKIP, and they did. It was great to see the other parties squirm when the results came out and truly have no answer when the questions came in. At last we had found something to aim for and felt we were not wasting a vote on an unworthy party.

Things sounded very good for a while and yes we were all looking forward to the general election when more shocks were hoped for. Then it all started, the internal politics and along the way the voice was lost and the momentum started to fall away. Now UKIP sounds like a distant drum barely beating and certainly out of site. The question has to be what happened ? Where are you now ? Who is leading who ?

Beware UKIP you are about to be swallowed up in the pre election fear of what we do not want rather that voting for what we want. People out there are starting to think that the vote they were going to make is now a wasted vote and therefore voting for no change. Time is running out and May is not so far away. I can even feel myself falling back into the dark depths of the pit of non voters. Whether you love or loathe Robert Kilroy-Silk he is what your party needs and needs it quick.

Who is this Roger Knapman, a very nice chap I am sure but until the days of Kilroy I did not know he even existed and was not even very aware of UKIP itself. So please oh please do not bite the hand that feeds you and stop arguing about who wants to be who in the party. We are all animals at heart and let the lead dog pull the pack forward, for it is only working together that the race could ever be won. He is the figurehead you need and as a previous fence sitter I would strongly suggest do it quick.

If you are to survive as a political party you will never have a better chance than this election for slip up this time and you will be no more. This seems a very dark message from a nobody out here in the wilderness but it is us nobodies that make the difference in the end for we out number everyone else.

Give Robert Kilroy-Silk what he wants and let him bring you forward by using his skills to get the message over. You need him now, whether you consider it good or bad, for your political survival is at stake. So take this festive time to pull together and bond and show everyone that you are worth voting for and not just a political blip.

For I know I am one of many who are just fed up with political spin and false promises and looking to this election to show them all that voting UKIP is voting for change and not just a non vote. So do not let us down. Yours thankfully.....(Name not supplied)
