UKIP's Press Officer

Christina Speight makes final mincemeat of Mark Croucher in this morning's Eurofaq

NOTE "informally disseminating party information IN RETURN FOR FEES."

This makes Croucher's pretence that G.L-W was nothing to do with UKIP seem a disgusting LIE.

The references being made are to first Damian Hockney's statement on Greg Lance-Watkins published here in our earlier post of this morning Farage and Lance-Watkins and second to Croucher's ridiculous reasoning for not issuing a press release distancing UKIP from G.L-W in which he gets himself into such strange convolutions that to my mind he as good as concedes that he personally is aware that to do so would be the greatest possible deceit. The link to the post Conflicting Views carries the full details.

Meantime the remainder of UKIP NEC member Damian Hockney's revelations about UKIP's ties to G.L-W having been published on Eurofaq, which we now provide below for this blog's still growing readership:-

GLW is more than a clot - he is deeply dangerous and is an enemy to our cause. I have just informed the NEC that my lawyers have discovered that he has been paid to spread smears about members of the NEC by agents who are hostile to our aim of leaving the EU. I was asked to look into him after it became apparent that his repeated attacks on people - accusing them of being evil and using the most disgusting swear words to describe them - were more than just chance. He had never met or even spoken to the people he was defaming and was clearly motivated by something other than support for the cause. He received almost $3,000 on one occasion to spread smears about individuals. My lawyers also discovered his links with extremists and have unearthed his strange writings inciting people to break the law and engage in civil disturbance of the worst kind. His writings are also anti-semitic and racist. The police have been informed, and I understand he is already being investigated, has been investigated several times before, and that he has a criminal record.

A member of my family who knows a little bit about this type of thing (please, no MI5 rumours about me - it's more than I could bear at the moment) advised me that GLW was clearly the type of person who might act as a low-grade agent provocateur or some sort - and GLW's proclaimed support for the murder of the Swedish Yes campaigner Anna Lindh fits clearly into the category of useful (and paid) fool. Designed to incite and to cause adverse comment, while hopefully finding one or two idiots who will say something supportive of him, so that they too can be smeared as extremists like him while he carries on with his bile and disgusting outpourings.

The party will indeed issue a statement to its members on this sickening bile written by GLW, and his attempts to smear the whole eurosceptic movement, and I gather one has already gone out on new-ind-uk. I further understand that the party may launch an investigation into who is indeed handing over information to GLW so that he can smear members of the NEC, and how he is acquiring his information on what happens at NEC meetings, and I shall in any event be making such a proposal at the NEC in October. His information is always tailored to suit certain views and the attacks on those who disagree are vicious, personal and unacceptable.

It is pointless to say that it is "just writing on an internet site"- these things go down on record and are available for our opponents at any time. Those who hand over information to extremists like GLW to attack their own side in this way for their own personal gain and financial well-being are enemies of the cause, I am sure you would agree. It is irrelevant that they might feel they are doing it for some good - I ask anyone just to look at the disgusting outpourings of GLW in his attacks on NEC members who take their duties seriously, and not be appalled, horrified and sickened.

But thank heavens that we actually won the referendum in Sweden - it is a very good day for us, but our sympathies must go out to all the campaigners on all sides, as what should be a great day for us is inevitably somewhat muted. The shedding of lives in this context is sad, futile and counter-productive. No decent person could think otherwise. The end result tarnishes everyone and ensures that the things you are fighting for become somehow polluted. Remember again that film 'It Happened Here', about the theoretical occupation by the Nazis of Britain in 1941, and the lesson - once you are brutalised by war and killing and extremism, it is practically impossible to restore the decency and order that you once knew. Surely that is as much what we are fighting for as anything, so extremists like GLW should be kept at a distance.

Damian
