What motivates the leaders of the United Kingdom Independence Party?

UKIP CAN WIN the General Election under Robert Kilroy-Silk!

Ridiculous, preposterous, absurd and impossible? I can imagine the retorts to the headline above from all across the country. But read the report below this post on Robert Kilroy-Silk's visit to Derbyshire and consider these figures from a standing start last June (available from UKIP's own web-site, linked here where the architect of the victory has been removed)
:

East Midlands region
1. Conservatives 371 362 votes (26.4%)
2. UK Independence Party 366 498 (26.1%)
3. Labour 294 918 (21.0%)
4. Liberal Democrats 181 964 (12.9%)

Look again at how closely the Tories were almost beaten into second place! Only a mere 0.3 per cent difference in the votes obtained. Imagine that result or better across the country.

Kilroy can deliver victory, or almost certainly as an acceptable second best - the balance of power in a hung parliament. Why! Because the 'disgusted' and the 'don't knows' are now in the majority in this country!

It is the previously disinterested and disenchanted voters in this country who need to be mobilised to register and come out to vote for a Kilroy reformed and reforming UKIP. The next election should be forced to be run as a two horse race between the corrupt and treacherous existing political parties and a new party of honest, straight-talking and straightforward candidates spearheaded by Robert Kilroy-Silk.

Yesterday I was sent a copy of a letter from a former UKIP stalwart who had apparently not just despaired of politics in general and UKIP in particular, but far worse - democracy, altogether it seemed. He stated it was all too late. IT IS NOT TOO LATE! Look again at what was achieved from a standing start in the East Midlands earlier this year. As support for a Kilroy led eurosceptic and reforming party grows so will the election date regress, giving ever more time to marshal the huge support that so clearly exists among the majority of non-political discontented and soon to be disenfranchised people of the country.

I CANNOT THINK OF ONE SINGLE SITTING MP NOW WORTHY OF RE-ELECTION. IN RECENT YEARS ALMOST SEVENTY PER CENT OF OUR LEGISLATION HANGS UNREMARKED FROM CLIPS IN THE LOBBY OF THE COMMONS - YARDS AND YARDS OF REGULATIONS BEARING SILENT WITNESS TO OUR REPRESENTATIVES' BETRAYAL OF THEIR COUNTRY - USUALLY UNREPORTED AND UNEXPLAINED TO THEIR CONSTITUENTS - THAT IS OUR SUPPOSED REPRESENTATIVES REGULAR AND REPEATED BETRAYAL!

Neither Nigel Farage nor Roger Knapman, due to their own political pasts, are capable of leading any general election campaign that can capitalise upon this deep deceit.

Look at these East Midland figures once again and translate that or something only slightly better into seats in your own constituency:

East Midlands region
1. Conservatives 371 362 votes (26.4%)
2. UK Independence Party 366 498 (26.1%)
3. Labour 294 918 (21.0%)
4. Liberal Democrats 181 964 (12.9%)
